Secondary Education Department

The Head of the Education Department is a Class 1 officer of the State Government with the designation Education Officer (Secondary). Also, two Class 2 officers are working as Deputy Education Officers in this department.

There are a total of 217 subsidized private secondary schools in the district and 27 unsubsidized private secondary schools as well as 10 permanent unsubsidized private secondary schools. The purpose of this department is to raise the standard of education in rural areas and to increase the quality of the schemes implemented by the central and state governments. This department deals with the activities of private schools such as enhancing recognition, inspecting rosters, inspecting schools, approving the appointment of teachers, granting recognition to teachers, allocating grants and allocating scholarships to students.
